Revolve KC distributes bike helmets to area children.The Troostwood Neighborhood Association helped plan a Back-to-School Rally for area residents on Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Rockhurst Community Center. About 300 children attended the event, which was organized by the Rockhurst University Neighborhood Committee, which includes representatives from the university, Troostwood, the 49/63 Neighborhood Association, Brush Creek Community Partners, the Troost Plateau Neighborhood Association, the Southtown Council and UMKC.

During the event, elementary school students received free bags of school supplies, donated by Associated Purchasing Services and Consentino’s Brookside Market. Each student received a notebook, loose leaf paper, a set of pencils and a box of crayons or markers. Children also received free bike helmets and bike safety training from Revolve KC.

The event also featured informational booths from institutional partners, such as the Girls Scouts, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, the Green Impact Zone, UMKC, Blue Hills Family Life Center, The Kansas City Zoo, Kansas City Public Library, W.E.B. DuBois Learning Center, Research Medical Center, Children’s Mercy Hospital, Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kemper Museum of Art and The Children’s Peace Pavilion.
