Congratulations to the Manheim Park Neighborhood Association on a successful kickoff for its Neighborhood Connection cleanup campaign on Saturday, July 16.

Neighborhood leader Saundra Hayes and three neighborhood children worked with KCPD Officer William Finn and four community workers to collect 75 bags of trash and brush in front of Bancroft School.

“I want to send a special thank you to Officer Finn because he was in the battle with us,” said Hayes. “He didn’t just supervise and give the community workers their assignments — he worked with them!”

The Manheim Park effort illustrates the great results that can come from a community working together.

Community leaders also want to thank the Central Patrol Division’s Master Patrol Officer James Schriever for arranging the community workers, Marleen Leonce of the city sanitation department, and Augusta Wilbon of Neighborhood Housing Services, and Bridging the Gap.
