Anita Maltbia, director of the Green Impact Zone initiative, has been invited to be a guest at President Obama’s State of the Union address on Wednesday, January 27. She will sit in First Lady Michelle Obama’s box, along with about 20 other guests.

“We are very grateful for the attention the White House continues to pay to the work we are doing in the Green Impact Zone,” said Maltbia. “We think it signals how important this administration believes it is to demonstrate how a targeted sustainability effort can literally transform a community. Successfully transforming this part of our community will strengthen the entire Kansas City region.”

The State of the Union address will be broadcast at 7 p.m. CST on most local stations.
