The Green Impact Zone is seeking mature 12- to 18-year-old young people who live in the zone to participate in our second annual NEXUS program. The seven-week camp runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, from June 20 to Aug. 5, 2011.

  •   Learn how to become an entrepreneur
  •   Create your own business plan
  •   Go on fun and exciting field trips to “green” businesses in the Kansas City area
  •   Establish leadership and team-building skills
  •   Market your business and compete for funding opportunities.
  •   Earn community service hours for graduation

The Green Impact Zone congratulates students at the Paseo Academy on the opening of their new store, “Urban Edge.” The students are taking entrepreneurship to a new level with this store, which will feature clothing and art created by the students and operate under a business plan they developed. Helping young people develop their entrepreneurial skills is one of the strategies we’re using to transform the Green Impact Zone into a thriving, sustainable community. We’re getting ready to launch our “NEXUS of Excellence” program for young people ages 13-18 who dream of starting their own businesses.
